Another last day in Goa

We unexpectedly had our last night in Williams saying goodbye to the guys. By the time we got out of there it was too late to go anywhere else, especially as we had an early call for 3.30am to catch our flight. Claire had already spotted that there was a problem at Gatwick airport and rang the 2 numbers on our Olympic travel itinerary without success. We decided to still go to the airport as planned so the rep could look after us if the flight didn’t go. We arrived with around 8 other people stuck there without any representation. Of course our taxi had already gone back to Colva so we tried the phone numbers again. A Thompson rep came to help and gave us the Olympic area reps number which again we rang without success. A Thompson bus load arrived and they all pilled into the airport as they had chartered another plane to take them to Manchester and ferry them back to Gatwick. There were 7 Thompson reps and although it wasn’t their responsibility were very helpful to us but in the end they advised us to get a taxi back to our hotels and claim the money back later. We did get a taxi back and went straight back to bed as we didn’t need to check out until 11am from the previous night. Again we phoned the area rep and this time got an answer but she said that they had reserved us a room in our original hotel in Calangute. Rather than stay another night in Colva at our own expense we decided to make the journey back up there so that they could look after us because we are still not sure if the flight scheduled for Gatwick tomorrow morning will be leaving. Also they have agreed to pay for our lunch and dinner at the hotel. Judging from the internet, the weather doesn’t look too promising back home so we may be around here a bit longer than we expected. Hopefully we will be back for Christmas.

They have allowed us up to Rs350 per person per meal which is quite a reasonable amount over here; we usually spend about Rs400 for the both of us so we are having starters and ice cream just to make the most of it. Tonight I might try the red snapper at Rs300 and still have Rs50 to spare; let’s hope the weather back home doesn’t improve too quickly.
