A Late Start and Icmeler Market

As you could imagine we didn’t really get going until around 11.30am after our very late night and we headed off to the bus stop with Danny and Sharon to catch one to the market. The market is massive and is only on a Wednesday and it was very hot walking around it. Claire kept stopping to look at the handbag stalls which seemed to be every other stall which was very frustrating. She ended up buying 4 handbags and 5 different perfumes in the end. I managed to get 3 shirts so we don’t need the laundry quite so quickly now. They were selling what looked like ferret skins for 1TL but Claire told me that they were hair extensions.

Towards the end of last night we were talking to the uncle of the four brothers that run our hotel and he has a jewellery shop called the Jack of Diamonds. Claire did her usual trick of handing all her rings over to a perfect stranger to have them cleaned and we could pick them up after the market. Of course when we got there the chairs came out and we were served drinks so we settled in for a long one where he tried in vain to sell us all some very expensive jewellery. In the end he got bored realizing that we wouldn’t be buying anything so when we tried to pay for the cleaning he wouldn’t accept anything. He tried to tell Claire that he lovely engagement ring that I bought in Dubai was bad workmanship and he wanted to replace one of the stones but Claire stuck her ground. We walked to the bus station and were on our way back to our hotel to cool down.

We went to our usual place to do internet stuff, have a couple of beers and something to eat but it all started to catch us up again. By 7.30pm we were exhausted and had to come home to bed so we asked the waiters to let Danny and Sharon know as they were coming to meet us by 9.30pm for the football. We were asleep by 8.30pm so not much more to report I’m afraid.
